Tennis – Somerset College Tennis Festival report
The two out of five matches Somerset College lost were to Menlo Park and St Mary’s DSG who played in the finals. Both these teams were in our pool. We won the other three matches against Pretoria Girls High, Wykeham Collegiate and St Andrew’s. Well done to Vanessa Chigariro and Rebecca Brody for winning four out of five of their singles matches as well as being a superb doubles combination. Kiera van Eeden must be congratulated on all her closely contested matches. Many schools complimented us on our girls’ manners both on and off the court.
They also complimented the College on the outstanding hospitality and catering displayed throughout the weekend and, of course, our most beautiful setting. We would like to thank Alwyn Brink for a very well organized tournament and to Larissa Brody for all her hard work behind the scenes. To the PR committee for the hospitality and to Melanie Barnard and her catering staff for constantly feeding us. Thanks also go to Facilities and the cleaning staff for keeping everything clean and everyone comfortable. Thank you to everyone who came down to support.
