On Saturday, 10 February, the Somerset College Cricket teams played against Strand High and Paarl Gymnasium.
The 1st XI played against Strand High at Somerset College. We batted first and were in trouble at 119 for 9 when Jonathan van Druten and Nic Williams put together a match winning 65 run 10th wicket partnership. Somerset College ended up scoring 184 runs. Somerset College bowled well and restricted Strand to 122 all out! Gillad Ben-Oved took 3 for 29. Somerset College won by 62 runs.
Our 2nd XI, U15 and U14 Cricket teams played against Paarl Gymnasium on Saturday, 10 February. The 2nd XI played Paarl Gym’s 3rd team. Somerset College batted first and scored 178 for 6 in 50 overs. Michael Atkinson scored 76 runs. Paarl Gym scored 181 for 4 after 30 overs. Somerset College lost by 6 wickets.
The U15As played against Paarl Gym U15B. Somerset College batted first and scored 208 for 8. Liam Bayer scored 66 not out and James Visagie 59. After a tense final few overs the Somerset College bowlers managed to restrict the Paarl Gym team to 196 in 50 overs. Somerset College won by 12 runs.
The U14As played against Paarl Gym U14A. Somerset College batted first and were bowled out for 80. Paarl Gym passed our score with 2 wickets down. Somerset College lost by 8 wickets.
