Parel Vallei won the toss and elected to bowl.
Somerset College Captain, Phillip Carstens started like a run-away train and smashed his first hundred for the 1st team, hitting 117 off 113 balls. College ended day one on 208 for 6.
Parel Vallei started day two well and picked up three quick wickets to leave College 222 for 9. College number 11, Kayle Tessendorf strode to the wicket and immediately dismantled the good work done by the PV bowlers. He hit 69 off 41 balls with four 4’s and five 6’s. College finished on 310 for 9 in their allotted 60 overs.
Opening bowler William Sendin attacked the PV batting line-up picking up 2 wickets for 11 runs in his first 6 overs, with PV in a bit of trouble, Sendin was replaced by Jet Hardie who bowled with superb accuracy to take 5 wickets for 10 runs in 5.4 overs. Parel Vallei were bowled out for 53 runs and were asked to follow on.
In their follow on innings, Parel Vallei were bowled out for 75 runs. Left arm orthodox spin bowler, Franco Carstens, was the pick of the bowlers, picking up 4 wickets for 18 runs in 7 overs.
Somerset College retained the Ashes with a victory by an innings and 182 runs.
