Somerset College is very proud of Andrew Georgiou, our first Old Oak to participate in one of golf’s major championships. The 2012 Open Championship is being hosted at Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Course, England from 19 – 22 July.
Andrew matriculated from Somerset College in 2004 after an excellent golfing career as a school boy, playing an instrumental role in starting golf as a sport at the College and captaining the school team. After school Andrew headed for the USA on a full scholarship to Columbus State University. He had an exceptional College career and was a 4-time All American and the only player in CSU history to compete in every single event!
Andrew turned Pro in 2009 and has been playing regularly on the Sunshine Tour. Earlier this year, at a qualifying tournament in Johannesburg, he finished 2nd out of 60 South African golfers to claim one of the three places still available at this year’s Open Championship.
He is about to participate in the biggest tournament of his life and as a College community we support him and wish him all of the very best!
